Takes a couple of minutes. You only need to do this once.

  1. Step 1: Download keyTAP

Click Download keyTAP for macOS on this page.

    • Download only from the official keyTAP website.

Why the extra step?

keyTAP is made by a small, independent team. Apple charges a yearly fee to verify apps, and we keep keyTAP at $1.99/month, so keyTAP isn't verified by Apple yet. That's why your Mac asks you to confirm. Always download keyTAP from this website.

Need a hand?

Try opening keyTAP from Applications first. The button appears for about an hour afterwards. On a work Mac, ask your IT admin.

Delete keyTAP and download it again from this page. If the message comes back, open Terminal and run this command. It only affects keyTAP:

Terminal
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/keyTAP.app

Still not working? Contact us.

Stop. Move keyTAP to the Trash and contact us. Don't use any workaround.

Check that Input Monitoring is on for keyTAP, then quit and reopen keyTAP. Also check your volume.

Quit keyTAP, then drag it from Applications to the Trash.
