Why the extra step?
keyTAP is made by a small, independent team, and we keep it at $1.99/month. Linux won't warn you about downloaded apps, and our packages aren't signed yet, so the checksum in Step 2 is how you know your file is genuine.
Need a hand?
Install FUSE 2, then try again:
sudo apt install libfuse2t64
sudo apt install libfuse2
Check that a sound profile is picked and your volume is up. On some Wayland desktops, apps can't hear keys pressed in other windows. Try an X11 session if your login screen offers one. Don't run keyTAP with sudo.
Run sudo apt update, then try Step 3 again. Not on Ubuntu, Debian or Mint? Use the AppImage.
.deb: run sudo apt remove keytap.
AppImage: just delete the file.
